The Position:

Background
UNFPA ESARO actively promotes young professionals in the region to engage and mentor them in UNFPA’s key sexual and reproductive health interventions. The intern will provide career opportunities to young leaders and develop their skills so they can pursue successful careers.

How to Apply for an Internship

The intern must meet the following educational and eligibility requirements:

Educational Requirements

1. Hold at least a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as international development, public health, women’s or gender studies, population and development, etc.
2. Enrollment in a postgraduate program in a relevant field is preferred.
3. The candidate must begin the internship within the first few years after graduation.

Other eligibility requirements:
● Demonstrated interest in the field of development, specifically sexual and reproductive health (SRH);

● Demonstrated ability to adapt to new environments and to establish and maintain good working relationships with people from diverse cultural backgrounds;

● Experience working with development agencies, including volunteer work;

● Fluency in English. Knowledge of other languages ​​is a plus;

● Strong analytical and writing skills;
● Initiative, sound judgment, and a proven ability to work harmoniously with staff members from diverse national and cultural backgrounds;

● Candidates must be between 18 and 35 years old.

1. A greater understanding of UNFPA and its Program Division.
2. An understanding of UNFPA’s mandate and policies, including its regional configuration.
3. An understanding of and familiarity with UNFPA’s Governance and Executive Board.
4. An understanding of UNFPA’s program design and implementation mechanisms.
5. An understanding of the dynamics of operational and programmatic support, as well as field and headquarters communications.

8. The ability to draft and formulate substantive documents.
