Job Summary

Light Market is seeking a Stock Controller for our headquarters in Edenvale, with responsibilities for nationwide stock and purchasing oversight across all branches.

This role is key to ensuring accurate stock control, efficient purchasing, and optimal stock availability throughout the company. It is a senior, hands-on role, ideal for a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with strong business acumen and experience managing stock across multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities: Inventory Control (Nationwide Oversight)

Oversee the accurate receipt, data entry, and control of inventory across all branches.

Ensure the correct processing of GRVs, supplier documentation, and inventory movements.

Conduct and review inventory counts, variances, and investigations nationwide.

Monitor slow-moving, damaged, and obsolete inventory.

Manage and coordinate inventory transfers between branches.

Maintain accurate inventory records in point-of-sale/inventory systems (experience with Hike is a plus).

Support and oversee branch inventories and internal audits.

Purchasing and Procurement Tasks

Support and execute purchasing decisions nationwide.

Prepare and issue purchase orders for all branches.

Analyze sales trends, inventory levels, and forecasts to inform purchasing.

Track supplier deliveries, shortages, and backorders.

Ensure cost accuracy, price updates, and proper supplier documentation.

Coordinate with suppliers regarding pricing, delivery times, returns, and damages.

Ensure the availability of essential and high-turnover products. Stock levels are always available.

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 (or equivalent) – required

Minimum 3 years of experience as a Senior Stock Controller, Buyer, or similar role.

Strong numerical, reconciliation, and planning skills.

Proficient in computer applications (Excel and point-of-sale/inventory systems).

Ability to work accurately under tight deadlines.
