Responsibilities:
- Plan and prepare lessons for students from 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (depending on the assigned grade level and schedule) daily, within your area of expertise. • Collaborate with teachers at each grade level and subject area to develop rigorous and engaging learning experiences and to create individualized behavior and learning plans for all students.
- Attend pre-year professional development and weekly professional development every Monday afternoon.
- Administer weekly and termly assessments to track student progress and analyze developmental data.
- SPARK educators are expected to focus on student academic achievement and encourage all students to reach the required proficiency levels.
- Lead weekly Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) circles and implement the SPARK Schools SEL curriculum.
- Utilize SPARK’s culture and implement behavior management strategies.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Actively participate in professional development opportunities as a member of the SPARK Schools team. • Attend Saturday events and parent community meetings.
- Conduct yourself professionally at all SPARK Schools events and with all stakeholders.
- Foster a high-performing work environment where all students feel valued and supported.
Requirements
Qualifications and Criteria:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or PGCE (Secondary or Intermediate and Higher Education). Specialization and proficiency in mathematics. Newly qualified teachers are encouraged to apply!
- South African Council of Educators (SACE) certification.
- SAQA accreditation for equivalent non-South African qualifications.
- Fluency in English.
- Clean criminal record.
