Registered Nurse | Surgical Unit

Introduction

We are seeking a Registered Nurse for the Surgical Unit at Eugene Marais Hospital, who will report to the Head of Unit. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive patient care and maintaining collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, in line with the strategic objectives of the company and the hospital.

Key Results

Effective management of personnel and supply costs through:

• Evaluation of staff working hours and management of debit and credit hours.
• Minimizing unnecessary waste of supplies and facilitating equipment maintenance.

Provide quality patient care by:

• Identifying and ensuring that staff receive specific departmental micro-guidance.
• Ensuring daily rounds are conducted and investigating complaints.
• Providing accurate, appropriate, and sufficient information to patients and their families during hospitalization.

Provide effective risk management (SHEQ and infection control) by:

• Monitoring and implementing preventive measures to minimize risk.
• Complying with ISO requirements to facilitate infection control.

Maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

• Identifying physician preferences and stakeholder needs and implementing them in the workplace.

Requirements

• National High School Diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent
• Nursing Degree or Diploma
• Experience in Surgical Unit Nursing
• Current registration with the relevant professional or regulatory body
• Knowledge of the private healthcare sector, its challenges, and key stakeholders will be valued
• Computer proficiency
• Driver’s license and availability to travel
