KEY RESULTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

CONSISTENCY OF CARE

Administrative Duties

Complete all legal and company documentation required to perform your duties and ensure that copies of said documentation are provided to the Operations Manager.

Ensure that hospital records are completed according to internal requirements each time a patient is transferred through the emergency department.

Accurately complete Electronic Patient Report Forms for each patient seen.

Complete all necessary documentation for overtime worked and required leave.

Perform any other reasonable duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.

Quality Improvement

Respond to any emergency upon request and administer intermediate life support to any patient who requires it, in accordance with HPCSA protocols and regulations.

Request backup immediately if a patient’s condition requires treatment beyond your scope of practice and expertise.

Log all calls in the Netcare 911 Call Center and obtain a case number for each call handled, ensuring this number appears on all pages of the PRF/EPRF.

Ensure daily station cleaning.

Ensure proper inventory control and immediate replenishment after each call, if possible.

Attend Continuing Medical Education (CME) training sessions to maintain compliance with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements.

Participate in community projects if required.

Possess the necessary knowledge and demonstrate an appropriate level of competence in patient care, in accordance with your training and qualifications, and familiarize yourself with any changes to treatment protocols established by the HPCSA.

Comply with all company policies and procedures applicable to your position; failure to do so may result in disciplinary action.

Vehicle and Equipment

Perform a thorough inspection of the assigned vehicle and equipment before beginning your shift at CARS and report to your Operations Manager. Ensure daily cleaning of all vehicles and equipment, and perform a deep clean once a week.

Maintain all equipment in satisfactory working condition, according to the manufacturer’s specifications.

Take the necessary precautions to prevent the loss of equipment and report any loss or theft to management.

Be sure to maintain an accurate record of all medications used and in your possession.

Health and Safety

Ensure compliance with the Workers’ Compensation Act and immediately report any injuries sustained while on duty to the Call Center Operations Manager.

Maintain cleanliness and order in all public areas of the Netcare 911 facility at all times.

Act in accordance with basic safety regulations throughout your shift.

Drive safely and prudently at all times while operating the company vehicle.

Ensure the incident site is safe to access, and if not, secure it according to the regulations for your specific level of emergency response training.

Immediately report any unusual incidents of significance to the company to the Operations Manager during your shift.

Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for each intervention, as required.

Ensure proper inventory control and replenishment immediately after a call, if possible.

SKILLS PROFILE

EDUCATION
Required

Current registration with the HPCASA: Professional Board of Emergency Care Personnel as an AEA. Up-to-date knowledge of the latest HPCASA CPG guidelines.

Valid Driver’s Passenger Permit (PDRP)

Valid Driver’s License (Code 10)

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

Over 21 years of age

Two years of post-graduation patient care experience in an operational setting is a plus.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office is a plus.

KNOWLEDGE

Required

Good general knowledge and understanding of legislation applicable to the specific Netcare 911 business environment.
