Position: Quality Manager
Introduction

There is a vacancy for a Quality Manager, responsible for Life Riverfield Lodge and Life Poortview Hospital, who will report to the respective Hospital Managers. The successful candidate will be responsible, along with the Hospital Manager, for the Integrated Quality and Environmental Management System and its effectiveness, as well as coordinating quality initiatives in support of the hospital’s management team.

Job Objective

The Quality Manager’s primary objective is to manage the Quality System in collaboration with the various hospital departments.

Critical Results

Effective establishment of relationships with internal and external stakeholders:

Comprehensive management of the quality function, by:

Ensuring that the hospital’s quality and environmental sustainability objectives are reviewed annually and aligned with the Group’s objectives.

Communicate the hospital’s quality and environmental sustainability objectives and priority areas to management and staff, and promote projects to achieve these objectives in collaboration with department heads.

Generate the hospital’s quality dashboard and monthly quality reports.

Compile presentations and communicate feedback on trends, risks, incidents, and corrective actions taken during hospital quality review meetings.

Advise the Engineering/Services Manager on conducting environmental impact assessments and reporting environmental incidents.

Collaborate with the infection prevention specialist and department heads to ensure the proper management and reduction of general and hazardous waste within the hospital, and ensure that waste management complies with quality, legal, and environmental regulations and standards.

Collaborate with the infection prevention specialist/coordinator to effectively manage hazardous healthcare waste by implementing and maintaining processes related to waste reduction, proper segregation, and disposal. Waste Management

Drive continuous improvement through Life Healthcare’s iShift program

Participate in Patient Experience Management (PXM) and the CARE program

Effectively manage deviations by:

Managing the closure of deviations from standards identified during internal and external audits.

Effectively manage the InfoQuest data management system by:

Train staff on the use of the InfoQuest reporting system.

Ensure that all relevant staff have access as needed and verify the accuracy and reliability of the data.

Ensure that data is captured accurately and submitted before established deadlines.

Ensure that reports are accurate, available, and used effectively.

Identify and effectively manage risks by:

Conducting annual risk assessments in collaboration with Department Heads and Unit Heads, in accordance with legal requirements.

Quarterly supervision and review of risk management, in conjunction with Department Heads and Unit Heads.

Supervision and reporting on the effectiveness of measures taken to mitigate/control risks, in conjunction with Department Heads and Unit Heads.

Maintenance and updating of the risk register.

Monitoring the effectiveness of corrective actions.

Maintenance and updating of the corrective action record.

Effective management of occupational health and safety through:

Coordination of hospital Health and Safety Committee meetings.

Ensuring that all legal appointments are made, that staff are trained on the requirements of said appointments, and that legal requirements are met.

Requirements:

Degree or Diploma in Nursing or Degree or Diploma in Safety/Quality Management or similar.

Management experience will be valued.

Excellent. Knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation.

Knowledge of the private healthcare sector, its challenges, and key stakeholders will be valued.

Computer proficiency.

Current registration with the South African Council of Nurses (if applicable).
