Position: Quality Manager
Introduction
There is a vacancy for a Quality Manager (QM) at the Life East London Private Hospital Complex.
Critical Results
Effectively establishing relationships with internal and external stakeholders:
Monitoring and improving Quality Processes by:
Supporting the annual review of the hospital’s quality and environmental sustainability objectives and their alignment with the Group’s objectives.
Communicating quality and environmental sustainability objectives and priority areas to employees and driving projects to achieve these objectives in conjunction with Department Heads.
Generating the hospital’s quality dashboard and monthly quality reports.
Collaborating in the compilation of presentations and communicating feedback on trends, risks, incidents, and corrective actions taken at the hospital’s Clinical and Quality Governance meetings.
Support the Engineering, Services, Pharmacy, Patient Services, and Nursing Managers in conducting environmental impact assessments and reporting environmental incidents.
Collaborate with the Infection Prevention Specialist and Department Heads to ensure proper process management and the reduction of general and hazardous waste within the hospital.
Drive continuous improvement through Life Healthcare’s quality improvement programs (i-shift).
Participate in Patient Experience Management (PXM) and the CARE program.
Effectively manage deviations:
Support the reporting, investigation, and closure of all quality and environmental incidents, as well as deviations from standards, in conjunction with Department Heads and Unit Managers.
Promote and oversee the closure of deviations from standards identified during internal and external audits.
Effective Management of the InfoQuest Data Management System:
Train staff on the use of the InfoQuest reporting system.
Ensure that all relevant staff have access as needed and verify data accuracy. Reliability
Ensure that data is accurately recorded and submitted before established deadlines.
Ensure that reports are accurate, available, and used effectively.
Support the Quality Manager in maintaining the corrective action log.
Effective Risk Identification and Management by:
Supporting the Quality Manager in conducting annual risk assessments, together with Unit Heads, in accordance with legal requirements.
Supporting the Quality Manager in maintaining the risk log.
Effective Data Analysis (Trends) and Risk Management by:
Ensuring the accurate recording of quality data, statistical analysis, and trend identification.
Monitoring and reporting of actions taken based on trends identified through Incident and Alert Management, Patient Experience Management, and the Customer Relationship Management System.
Effective management of occupational health and safety through:
Coordination of hospital Health and Safety Committee meetings.
Monitoring the completion of evacuation drills by department and providing feedback to the Quality Manager.
Support in disseminating emergency and disaster management plans, ensuring their availability.
Effective document control through:
Managing and ensuring the governance of document quality control processes within the hospital through training.
Effective participation in internal and external audit processes through:
Staff training:
Conducting training sessions within the hospital to ensure that management and staff understand quality, safety, and environmental requirements.
Requirements:
Nursing Technician degree with current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
Computer proficiency.
Effective leadership skills, including the ability to prioritize and follow through.
Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015.
Knowledge of health and safety legislation and the COIDA Act.
Understanding of the private healthcare sector, its challenges, and key stakeholders.
