KEY JOB RESULTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
DISRUPTIVE INNOVATION
Administrative Tasks
- Complete all legal and company documentation required to perform your duties and ensure that copies of this documentation are delivered to the Operations Manager for filing.
- Ensure that hospital records are completed according to internal requirements each time a patient is transferred through the Emergency Department.
- Accurately complete electronic patient report forms for each patient seen. Complete all necessary documentation for overtime worked and required leave.
- Perform any other reasonable tasks as requested by the Operations Manager.
Quality Improvement
- Ensure quality to maintain work standards and the integrity of data reports. • Respond to any emergency upon request and administer advanced life support to any patient who requires it, in accordance with HPCSA protocols and regulations.
- Log all calls in the Netcare 911 Call Center and obtain a case number for each call handled.
- Ensure daily station cleaning.
- Ensure proper inventory control and replenishment immediately after a call, if possible.
- Attend Continuing Medical Education (CME) training sessions. Maintain compliance with continuing education requirements.
- Participate in community projects if required.
- Possess the necessary knowledge and demonstrate an appropriate level of competence in patient care, in accordance with your training and qualifications, and familiarize yourself with any changes to treatment protocols established by HPCSA.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures applicable to your position; failure to do so may result in disciplinary action. Vehicles and Equipment
- Ensure effective control of departmental equipment according to established guidelines.
- Conduct a thorough inspection of assigned vehicles and equipment before starting your shift at Geopal and report any anomalies to your Operations Manager.
- Maintain the daily cleanliness of all vehicles and equipment, and perform a thorough weekly cleaning.
- Keep all equipment in good working order, according to the manufacturer’s specifications.
- Take necessary precautions to prevent equipment loss and report any loss or theft to management.
- Maintain all rechargeable equipment in good working order.
- Maintain rechargeable batteries in good working order.
- Update contents checklists as needed.
- Ensure accurate recording of all medications used and in your possession.
Health and Safety
- Compliance with the requirements of the Workers’ Compensation Act.
- Ensure all public areas of Netcare 911 facilities are kept clean and orderly at all times.
- Conduct yourself in a manner that respects basic safety rules while on duty.
- Ensure safe and prudent driving techniques at all times while operating the company vehicle.
- Ensure the incident site is safe to access and, if not, secure it according to the standards of your specific level of emergency response training.
- Immediately report any unusual incidents of significance to the company while on duty to the Operations Manager.
CONSISTENCY IN CARE
Patient Care
- You must answer all emergency calls within one minute and all non-emergency calls within three minutes, unless you immediately inform the emergency care center of a valid reason why you cannot do so.
- Be an ambassador for the company by always showing compassion and empathy toward your patients, their families, and friends.
- Keep family members informed about the patient’s treatment.
- Transfer all patients to hospital staff according to protocol.
- Wear protective gloves when treating or transporting patients.
- Respect the confidentiality of information patients share with you, even after their death.
- Be courteous and professional when interacting with patients.
- Accurately document all of patients’ valuables.
- Ensure medication records are completed when medications are administered.

SKILLS PROFILE
EDUCATION
Essential Requirements:
- High School Diploma (Grade 12). • Current registration with the HPCSA Professional Council of Emergency Care as an Emergency Care Professional (BTech, BEMC, BHSc).
- Up-to-date knowledge of the HPCSA Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG).
Preferred
- Business administration training or degree will be considered an asset.
- Current ACLS, PALS, and ATLS certifications will be considered an asset.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
- Four years of postgraduate patient care experience in an operational environment will be considered an asset.
- Proficiency in relevant computer tools (Microsoft Office) will be considered an asset.
KNOWLEDGE
Required
- Good general knowledge and understanding of the legislation applicable to the specific business environment of Netcare 911.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Professional flexibility in working hours to support daily operations, including weekends, holidays, and night shifts.
